Tart with Fig and Walnut Jam

Ingredients for the pastry:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 2 tablespoons cold water

  • 2 tablespoons Colli Siciliani olive oil

Instructions for the pastry:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and sugar. Add the chilled butter cubes and rub them into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

  2. Add the egg yolk, Colli Siciliani olive oil, and cold water. Mix until the dough comes together. Form it into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

  3. Roll out the chilled pastry dough on a floured surface to fit your tart tin or pie dish. Carefully place it into the greased tin, pressing it gently into the edges. Trim off any excess dough.

  4. Follow the remaining steps from the previous recipe to assemble, bake, and serve the fig and walnut tart.
